Stimson Center-American Portrait: Taiwan’s Perspective on US-Taiwan-China Relations
The "American Portrait Project" is set to host a collaborative press conference with the Stimson Center on November 20th. During the event, we will delve into Taiwan's public sentiment regarding the U.S.-Taiwan policy, exploring how the Taiwanese perceive various aspects of U.S. security commitments. This year's survey will specifically address whether TSMC's actions might influence the likelihood of U.S. troop deployment in the event of armed conflict in the Taiwan Strait. Additionally, we will examine whether TSMC's investment in Arizona could have a mitigating effect on this probability. Furthermore, our discussions will touch upon the Taiwanese perspective on the "status quo" across the Taiwan Strait. We aim to determine whether they consider Taiwan and China to be of the same country or not. In the event that Taiwan and China are perceived as separate entities, we also explore what Taiwan's official state name might be.
